A whitewashed Atlantic medina where street art covers the walls and the ramparts face the ocean. Asilah's annual arts festival has drawn painters since 1978. The Portuguese fortifications frame a town that feels closer to Essaouira in spirit than to neighbouring Tangier — smaller, quieter, and built around colour rather than commerce.

Asilah is a day trip from Tangier or a stop on our northern coastal route. We arrive late afternoon when the murals catch the Atlantic light.
