Oukaimeden

Bronze Age rock carvings on the Oukaimeden plateau at 2,600 metres in the High Atlas

Africa's highest ski resort at 2,600 metres, and home to Bronze Age rock carvings that predate the lifts by three thousand years. The petroglyphs — weapons, animals, sun symbols — are scattered across the plateau. In winter, Moroccans ski here. In summer, the wildflowers take over.

Oukaimeden is a day trip from Marrakech that we build into mountain itineraries. The rock carvings are the reason — the ski lifts are the bonus.
