Marrakech to Fès via Merzouga

Duration: 3 days / 2 nights
Arc: From the red city to the dunes of Merzouga, then north through cedar forests to the spiritual calm of Fès.

Three days that trace Morocco’s full geography — mountain, desert, and forest — ending in Fès, the city of light and patience.

Day 1 – Marrakech to Dades Valley

Depart early across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, winding through the High Atlas mountains. Visit the earthen ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a fortress of clay and sun, before continuing through Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses. Arrive in the Dades Valley by late afternoon, where green palms thread through red cliffs.

Day 2 – Dades to Merzouga

Follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Todgha Gorge, its sheer rock glowing in the morning light. By afternoon, reach Merzouga and ride into the dunes of Erg Chebbi as the sun sets. Dinner and night under desert stars — silence, wind, and firelight.

Day 3 — Merzouga to Fès

Wake before dawn to watch the dunes shift from amber to silver. After breakfast, travel north through the Ziz Valley, its palms tracing a green river through red stone. Cross the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where Barbary macaques watch from the trees, and descend toward Fès, the city of scholars and silence. Evening arrival — the desert dust still warm on your shoes.
