A slow coastal journey through Morocco’s equestrian soul — where horses thunder by the ocean and ancient brotherhoods still ride for honor and prayer. Each summer, near the Atlantic shore, riders from every tribe gather to perform the fantasia. It is not a sport but an act of remembrance — a sacred synchronization of courage, control, and rhythm. The crack of gunfire becomes a single heartbeat shared by men, horses, and wind.

Day 1 – Marrakech to Essaouira

Depart Marrakech through argan hills to the sea. Essaouira’s wind carries centuries of caravans and music. Evening walk along the ramparts where gulls turn like white banners in the dusk.

Day 2 – Essaouira to El Jadida

Follow the ocean north through Safi’s pottery hills. The air thickens with salt and anticipation. By evening, El Jadida glows with campfires; the plains beyond hum with horse drums.

Day 3 – Moulay Abdellah Amghar

At dawn, the troupes prepare their horses: silver bridles polished, rifles blessed. Each sorba rides as one—galloping in silence before releasing a single synchronized shot. It is precision as prayer, rhythm as faith.

Day 4 – El Jadida to Casablanca

Morning in El Jadida’s Portuguese quarter, where echo and light linger in the cistern’s still water. Drive north to Casablanca; visit the Hassan II Mosque, its arches rising like reins drawn toward heaven.

Day 5 – Casablanca to Marrakech

Cross the plains back to Marrakech. The echo of rifles and hoofbeats dissolves into heat and color. What remains is the discipline of movement, the elegance of control, and the memory of dust rising into light.
