Agadirs of the Anti-Atlas (The Berber Banks)
8 days / 7 nights
Agadir → Tiznit → Aït Mansour Valley → Tafraoute → Igherm → Amtoudi → Aït Abdellah & Ikounka → Tizourgane (Aït Baha) → Agadir
A quiet circuit through the Anti-Atlas to the communal granaries — stone fortresses where valleys banked their grain, memories, and oaths. These are the mountain vaults of the south — agadir perched on rock like patient sentinels. The road moves slowly: granite to palm, oath to key, grain to light.
Day 1 – Agadir to Tiznit
Leave the coast and settle into the south’s slower pulse. Walk the ramparts at dusk; sleep inside the quiet walls.
Day 2 – Tiznit to Aït Mansour Valley
Enter the palm belt. Water channels whisper under date shade; the rock keeps time.
Day 3 – Aït Mansour to Tafraoute
Walk among boulders shaped like sleeping giants. Evening in a small auberge; stars feel close enough to hold.
Day 4 – Tafraoute to Igherm
Climb the ridge roads. Markets thin out; silence grows. The mountains begin to show their vaults.
Day 5 – Igherm to Amtoudi
Reach one of the south’s finest agadirs. Keys, doors, niches — a whole valley once banked here. Sleep beneath the cliff.
Day 6 – Amtoudi
Climb to the fortified agadir, a granary that watched over caravans for centuries. The wind moves through its corridors like breath through an instrument.
Day 7 – Aït Abdellah & Ikounka
Visit lesser-known communal granaries where ledgers lived in memory. Footpaths, low doorways, the clean logic of shared life.
Day 7 – Tizourgane (Aït Baha)
Descend toward Aït Baha to meet a fortress like a stone crown. Evening light turns the walls to ember.
Day 8 – Tizourgane to Agadir
Back to the Atlantic. Salt replaces dust; the mountains hold their counsel.
Day 9 – Agadir
End at the ocean, where salt replaces dust. The journey closes in water’s reflection — stone’s oldest mirror.
