An hour's walk above Imlil, clinging to the mountainside like Berber villages have for centuries. No cars reach here. Stone houses, terraced fields, mules on narrow paths.
An hour's walk above Imlil, Aroumd clings to the mountainside like the Berber villages have for centuries. Stone houses with flat roofs, terraced fields, mules on narrow paths. No cars reach here. The pace changes immediately. The village offers guesthouse accommodation for trekkers heading to Toubkal, but you don't need to climb to visit. The walk from Imlil follows the valley, crossing the river on bridges that wash away each spring and are rebuilt each summer. Respect the village — this is someone's home, not a museum. The mosque is not for visitors. Ask before photographing people. Buy something from the small shops if you stop. The hospitality is genuine; reciprocate appropriately. Best time: Morning (avoid afternoon heat on the walk up) Allow: Half day from Imlil Combine with: Toubkal trailhead
