Grande Mosquée de Salé
The Friday mosque of Salé, founded in the 13th century by the Merinids — older than most of what stands in Rabat across the river. The minaret is one of the finest examples of Merinid tile work in Morocco, its geometric patterns in green, white, and ochre visible from the far bank of the Bou Regreg. Non-Muslims may not enter. The exterior is the reason to stand here.
