Salé Souks

The souk quarter of Salé runs north from the Grande Mosquée — a working market that supplies the city rather than performing for visitors. The basket weavers of Salé are regionally famous, their rush and esparto work sold throughout northern Morocco. The wool souk, the spice sellers, the vegetable market — all here, all functional, none of them arranged for a camera.
