Sefrou Cherry Festival

Every June since 1919, Sefrou holds a festival celebrating the cherry harvest from the orchards above the town — the oldest continuously running agricultural festival in Morocco. A cherry queen is crowned. The orchards open. The medina fills. The festival survived the Protectorate, independence, and the decades since with the same essential form. The cherries are extraordinary.
