Taroudant Medina

The medina inside Taroudant's walls — a functioning Amazigh town that has been trading since the Saadian dynasty used it as their first capital in the 16th century. The souks are working markets, not tourist destinations. The Amazigh jewellery here — heavier, more tribal than the Fassi filigree — is among the finest in the south. The town square has the calm of a place that knows it is not Marrakech.
