Agadir Beach

A 10-kilometre arc of Atlantic sand — one of the longest urban beaches in Morocco and the reason Agadir exists as a resort city. The bay faces southwest, sheltered from the northerly swell by Cap Ghir to the north. The water is warmer than the Atlantic beaches further north. The beach is the product of the 1960 earthquake as much as geography: the new city was rebuilt specifically to face it.
