Dakhla Peninsula

Dakhla sits on a narrow peninsula that juts 40 kilometres into the Atlantic, enclosing a lagoon of flat, shallow, turquoise water on one side and facing the open ocean on the other. The peninsula is 3 kilometres wide at its broadest point. The desert runs to the water's edge on both sides. There is almost nothing like it on earth.
