Location
North of Taghazout
Morocco's most famous surf break. The right-hand point produces long waves from November to March — the ride that built Taghazout's reputation. Not for beginners; the rocks punish mistakes.
01
The Surf Point
Anchor Point is one of Morocco's most famous surf breaks — a long right-hand point break that wraps around a rocky headland north of Taghazout. The wave was 'discovered' by travelling surfers in the 1970s and put Taghazout on the global surf map.
02
The Wave
A long, peeling right-hander that works best on a northwest swell. The takeoff is from the point; the ride can last 300 metres on a good day. The headland is dry, rocky, dotted with argan trees. Goats climb the argan trees. This is not a metaphor.
03
Visiting
North of Taghazout village. Walk or drive. No fee. Best watched from the cliff above the point. December-March for the biggest swells. Non-surfers come for the coastline and the goats-in-trees spectacle.
Best Time to Visit
December-March for surfing. Year-round for the coastline.
Getting There
North of Taghazout, about 20 km from Agadir.
Local Tip
Right-hand point break. Best December-March.
Common Questions
Yes. They eat the argan fruit. The sight of goats balanced in tree branches is real, though some roadside 'displays' are staged for tourist photos.

Nearby
Anchor Point is the surf break we recommend for watching, not just riding. The right-hand point break from the cliff is one of the best spectacles on the coast.
