Banana Village
The banana plantations on the hillside above the coast road between Taghazout and Aourir — an anomaly in the semi-arid Souss plain, sustained by the microclimate created by the Anti-Atlas foothills and the Atlantic moisture. The village of Aourir below has been selling bananas at its roadside market for generations. Moroccan bananas are smaller and more intensely flavoured than the imported varieties.
