Dakhla Old Town

The original settlement of Villa Cisneros — the Spanish colonial outpost established in 1884 that became Dakhla after Moroccan administration took over in 1979. The Spanish left behind a grid of low buildings, a church converted to a mosque, a port, and the administrative logic of a remote garrison town. The old town is small, functional, and largely overlooked by the kite camps outside the city.
