Jean Genet's Grave

The Spanish Christian cemetery on the hill above Larache holds the grave of Jean Genet, the French writer who chose to be buried here rather than in France. He died in Paris in 1986 and was brought to Larache because he had spent years in Morocco and considered it home. The grave is simple — white stone, his name, the dates. The cemetery is open to visitors.
