01
The Draa Valley Kasbah
Tamnougalt is one of the oldest kasbahs in the Draa Valley — a fortified village that controlled a crucial point on the caravan route between Ouarzazate and Zagora. The village predates the arrival of the Glaoui. Local families — the Aït Atta confederation — held this territory for centuries.
02
The Pink Walls
The pisé here is a distinctive pink — the colour of the local earth. The kasbah rises above a palm oasis, its towers and crenellations silhouetted against the sky. Parts are ruined, parts are inhabited, parts are restored for visitors. The colour alone distinguishes it from the ochre kasbahs further north.
