École des Beaux-Arts de Tétouan

The School of Fine Arts founded in 1945 during the Spanish Protectorate — the oldest art school in Morocco and the origin of what became known as the Tetouan School of painting. The painters who trained here developed a style that fused Moroccan subject matter with European technique. The school still operates. The tradition it created is the foundation of modern Moroccan visual art.
