Tangier Medina

The old city of Tangier climbs steeply from the port to the kasbah, its lanes too narrow for the sun to reach the ground at midday. It was built in layers by every culture that controlled the Strait — Phoenician, Roman, Arab, Portuguese, Spanish, British, French. The result is a medina that looks Moroccan but feels like nowhere else in Morocco.
