Bab el-Ain

The main gate into the Chefchaouen medina from the lower town — a simple horseshoe arch in pale stone that marks the transition between the modern city and the blue quarter above. The spring that gives the gate its name — ain means fountain — still runs in a stone trough just inside the entrance.
