Meknes Medina
The old city of Meknes was a Merinid foundation long before Moulay Ismail made it his imperial capital in the 17th century. The medina that survived his construction projects is smaller than Fes and less visited — which means the craftspeople, the carpet weavers, and the brass workers still work without an audience. The UNESCO listing came in 1996. The crowds haven't followed.
