Rabat Medina

The medina of Rabat is smaller and quieter than Fes or Marrakech — a functioning residential quarter rather than a tourist destination. The Almohads built the walls in the 12th century. The Andalusians who arrived after the fall of Granada in 1492 built the fabric inside. The result is a medina with Andalusian proportions: wider lanes, tiled façades, a certain formal dignity.
