Place Moulay Hassan

The main square of Essaouira, where the medina meets the port and the wind comes in off the Atlantic without anything to stop it. Gnawa musicians play at the café tables. Fish smoke drifts from the grills at the port entrance. The square is the hinge of the city — every route through Essaouira passes through it.
