Rabat Ville Nouvelle
The French-planned new town of Rabat, laid out by Resident-General Lyautey after 1912 with the explicit intention of preserving the medina by building a separate European city beside it. Wide boulevards, modernist government buildings, Mauresque architecture — the colonial city that became the national capital. Parliament, the ministries, the royal palace are all here.
