The carpenters' quarter, where cedar and thuya wood are worked into furniture, doors, and decorative panels. The smell of cedar is constant — a clean, dry sweetness that follows you out of the souk and into the rest of the medina. The craftsmen here supply the entire medina's demand for carved wood.
