Musée du Patrimoine Immatériel

Morocco's intangible heritage — traditions that can't be collected — documented through video, audio, and interactive displays. Context for everything you'll encounter in the medina outside.

Morocco's intangible heritage — the traditions that can't be collected in a museum — are documented here through video, audio, and interactive displays. The museum occupies the former Bank Al-Maghrib building on Jemaa el-Fna, repurposed for culture. The content covers oral traditions, music, craftsmanship, and festivals: the Gnawa trance ceremonies, the Berber wedding rituals, the skills of the tanners and dyers. What you can't see in person, you can understand here. The context enriches everything you encounter elsewhere. The building is modern compared to medina architecture — a colonial-era bank with high ceilings and clean lines. The location is central: Jemaa el-Fna is outside the door. The museum makes a good starting point, providing background before you plunge into the medina. Best time: Any time (air-conditioned) Allow: 1-1.5 hours Combine with: Jemaa el-Fna and Koutoubia
