Bab Ghmat Cemetery

A working cemetery just outside the southern medina walls, around the tomb of Aisha al-Manubiyya — a 13th-century Sufi saint whose mausoleum is the destination for women seeking intercession, particularly around childbirth and fertility. The cemetery is also the burial site of the Almoravid sultan Ali ibn Yusuf, who built much of the medina as it currently exists.
