Souk Kimakhine

The musical instrument souk, tucked into a lane above the main souk quarter. Guembris, hand drums, sintirs, and the occasional oud hang from the walls. The guembri — the three-stringed bass lute of the Gnawa — is made here from camel skin and cedar. You can buy one, but you cannot buy the knowledge of how to play it.
